Activities and Outreach

While worship in church and fellowship are at the heart of life at St James, there is much more to church life. We have social events, discussion and study groups, which are sometimes held jointly with our Church of Scotland Cousins in Dollar and Muckhart. These activities help to strengthen our fellowship and faith.

We aim to look outwards also: praying and working for a more loving, fair and peaceful world and playing our part in Christian witness.  To this end, we have a programme of outreach and engagement within our local community and beyond.

Drop-In Group

A friendly group, open to all. We explore, develop and question what it means to live a Christian life, through discussion and fellowship. For more information, see here.

Dollar and District Churches Together (DDCT)

St James plays an active part in DDCT, which provides the framework for the Church of Scotland in Dollar and Muckhart and ourselves to work together prayerfully and to share each others’ concerns.

We share some services, for example on the 5th Sunday of a month and during Holy Week.

We work together during Christian Aid week each year and at Christmas time to publicise services and events.

A new and enjoyable initiative has been the establishment of a joint Harvest Supper each Autumn.

For more information on DDCT, see here.

Supporting Others

Supporting others less fortunate than ourselves is part of our ethos. This is done through raising awareness of, as well as money, for charities and initiatives locally and in the wider world. For information on the charities and the foodbank that we support on a regular basis, see here.

We have additional collections throughout the year – for example, the Bishop’s Lent Appeal and the Aberlour Children’s Charity at Christmas.

Open Church

St James is open daily, as a place of private prayer, to visit, or just to sit quietly. We welcome local people and visitors from further afield to come inside. For more information, see here.
