Christmas at St James the Great is going to be very different this year, because of the restrictions on numbers allowed in our building.
But we are still planning to hold all our usual services – just not in the way we’ve done it for years past. You will be able to join in all these services by ZOOM. Instructions for joining us this way will be available from here later.
If you wish to be present in person at any of these services, please contact the Rector to ensure that there is space available as the COVID restrictions only allow us up to 20 people in church.
Sunday December 20th (4th Sunday of Advent)
10.30am – Carol Service
A traditional service of nine lessons and carols.
Those in church will not be allowed to sing, but those at home watching on ZOOM can sing along to their heart’s content.
Thursday December 24th (Christmas Eve)
4.30pm – Christingle Service
An online interactive version of our popular Family Service.
We will make our own Christingles at home as we talk and sing through the Christmas story.
Packs containing all you need will be available from a number of outlets from Monday December 21st (Details to follow, including instructions on how to join the ZOOM meeting)
December 24th – 25th
11.30pm – Midnight Mass
A service of Eucharist.
A small congregation in church will be joined by people at home following on ZOOM for this traditional, formal service.
Friday December 25th (Christmas Day)
10.30am – Christmas Eucharist
Again, a small congregation in church will be joined by people at home following on ZOOM. This service will be slightly less formal than the Midnight Mass, but will still convey the wonderful traditions of Anglican worship.
Sunday December 27th
10.30am – Eucharist for the Feast of St John
There will be no worshippers in the church, but people at home can follow this, our regular Sunday service, on ZOOM
