Under revised government guidelines, as an exemption to lockdown we are permitted to hold services of worship from Friday 26th March. This will allow us to hold some of our usual services, although the program will be restricted.
The maximum number of worshippers we can admit to the building is limited by the need to remain at least 2m apart from one another. For St James’, this will mean a maximum of 20 worshippers. It is essential therefore that you contact the Rector before hand to ensure that there is a place available for you. It would be deeply embarrassing to have to turn people away because there was no space.
A recent Government decision means that visiting your usual church now counts as an essential journey. The restriction on travel does not apply if St James’ is your usual church.
The forthcoming services will be as follows
Maundy Thursday (1st April)
7.00pm Commemoration of the Institution of the Eucharist
Good Friday (2nd April)
2.00pm Meditation at the foot of the Cross
Easter Day (4th April)
6.30am First Mass of Easter – This service will be outside (weather permitting) and will be online only. It can be seen on Facebook, either live or later.
