If you are thinking about visiting St James’s for the 10.30 Sunday service, what can you expect as you step through the door? Two members of St James’s will be on hand to welcome you and give you a hymn book, the day’s pew leaflet and the service booklet we are using that day.
Please sit wherever you wish. The 10.30 Sunday service includes a variety of styles of hymns, prayers led by a member of St James’s and a sermon by a member of clergy, all moving towards celebration of The Eucharist which is open to all who are seeking God. If you don’t want to receive Communion, you can simply receive a blessing by coming forward during The Eucharist and keeping your hands at your sides. Or you may prefer to remain in your pew.
‘If you are bringing children to church, you will find they are welcome at all St James’ services and events. There is a Soul Space tent at the back of church with materials and toys that children can use at any time during services. The 10.30am service on first Sundays of the month during term time is shorter and particularly geared towards children. Please see the Spiritual Life and Education/Children’s Programmes tab for more details about services and events that are especially popular with youngsters.Don’t worry if you are not sure which part of the pew leaflet or service booklet to use as the service gets underway. The person sitting next to you will be very happy to help you find the appropriate section.
And we hope you will join us for tea and coffee after the service in the Parish Rooms beyond the Rectory. Just follow the crowd.
You will be very welcome!
