St James’s church is located in the community of Dollar, a small town of around 3,000 people in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. The church serves and draws people from Dollar and the wider local area.
We are a congregation of the Scottish Episcopal Church (SEC), which is a deeply Scottish Church whose history is interwoven with the whole story of Christianity in Scotland. The SEC is an independent province of the Anglican Communion. Within the Province there are seven areas (each known as a Diocese) which cover mainland Scotland and the Islands. Each Diocese is overseen by a Bishop.
Our Diocese of St Andrews, Dunkeld & Dunblane has its cathedral in Perth and our Bishop is the Rt Reverend Ian Paton.
If you have an Anglican background, you will feel very at home in St James; but our services are open to all, including those for whom church is unfamiliar. You will find us a welcoming and friendly community.
Ministry Team
St James is currently in Vacancy, which means that we do not have a resident full-time Rector. We have the support of an Interim Pastor, the Revd Elaine Ryder, as well as the Revd Charles Sherlock, who, with others, lead regular services. For details of our Ministry team, see here.
Linkage with St Paul’s, Kinross
We are pleased to share the good news that St James is embarking on a new and exciting partnership as a linked charge with our sister church of St Paul’s in Kinross. The two congregations remain independent, with their own vestries and traditions, but will share the services of a Priest-in-Charge, who will also serve our wider communities.
See here for more information on the linkage, Parish Profiles for St James the Great and St Paul’s and the Joint Priest-in-Charge Profile. More information and how to apply are available on the Diocesan and SEC Provincial websites and in the Church Times.
Our Buildings, Grounds and Gardens
Our Church and Rectory are old and interesting buildings – as well as being the focus of Parish life. The Church is surrounded by a Memorial Garden and within the grounds there is a prayer labyrinth. For more information, see here.
