A labyrinth is a circular path of prayer laid out on the ground. It has been used by the Christian church for at least 800 years and is based on ancient patterns found all over the world. Walking a labyrinth is like going on a pilgrimage where beautiful and unpredictable things can happen.
Our beautiful brick and turf labyrinth was specially commissioned for St James Church. It was designed by Thorn Steafal and is a variation on the Mediaeval style. The unique double labyrinth was designed to enclose the trees in the church grounds in a pattern marking the Trinity. It can however be enjoyed as a single circular meander labyrinth.
The labyrinth was opened on 1st July 2013
