Our 2026 Charities

We have decided as a congregation which charities we would like to support during 2025/26.

We have a “Home ” or local charity and an “Away” Charity, usually an overseas charity. Our charity collections take place on the 2nd Sunday of each month, with Home and Away charity collections alternating.

This year’s Home Charity is the MS Society Scotland [www.mssociety.org.uk]

Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological condition affecting the brain/spinal cord. For unknown reasons the immune system turns against itself and, instead of fighting off an infection, starts attacking the myelin coating the nerve fibres in the brain which then gradually impairs function – like an electrical appliance with damaged cables. Functions such as walking, sight, and swallowing can be affected.

M.S. typically attacks young adults so the need for better treatments to prevent the loss of prime life is urgent. MS Society helps sufferers and their families living with MS, as well as funding research to stop MS for good.

Our Away Charity is WaterAid [www.wateraid.org]

Established in 1981, WaterAid’s vision is of a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation.

As well as implementing projects to provide clean water, sanitation and improve hygiene, the charity has also helped to influence policy and practice to ensure that the vital role of such initiatives in reducing poverty is recognised globally.

With clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, WaterAid has demonstrated how entire communities have been able to unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good.

On-going support to The Gate Foodbank, Alloa

We are a collection point for the foodbank run by The Gate Charity which is helping to meet the basic needs of those in want during these difficult economic times. Donations are taken to the charity’s hub in Alloa.

There is a collection point for donations at the back of the church, which is accessible when the church is open between 9.30am and 5.00pm.

If, instead of donating food, you would prefer to make a regular financial contribution to The Gate by Bank Standing Order, the necessary forms are available at the back of the church.
