Our 2026/27 Charities
We have a “Home ” or local charity and an “Away” Charity, usually an overseas charity. Our charity collections take place on the 2nd Sunday of each month, with Home and Away charity collections alternating.
This year’s Home Charity is Social Bite [www.social-bite.co.uk]
Founded in Scotland in 2012 Social Bite is both a charity and social business working to end homelessness. It focuses on providing HOMES, JOBS and FOOD, and places a big emphasis on supporting people to transform their own lives.
“Our vision is a society where no one should have to be homeless. We challenge the status quo by pioneering solutions that create lasting change.”.
Our Away Charity is Kgosi Neighbourhood Foundation [www.knf.org.za]
KNF is a charity based in the Jappestown/ Belgravia area of Johannesburg, which runs an early education project for 4/5 year olds from very poor families. Up to 25%
of those enrolled come from immigrant families, who have fled to Johannesburg to escape persecution in their home countries. KNF ensures disadvantaged and vulnerable children are school-ready before starting at regular government primary schools – they are well versed in speaking English and the basics of education, so have a much better chance of academic success.
As well as implementing projects to provide clean water, sanitation and improve hygiene, the charity has also helped to influence policy and practice to ensure that the vital role of such initiatives in reducing poverty is recognised globally.
On-going support to The Gate Foodbank, Alloa (the-gate-charity.org)
We are a collection point for the foodbank run by The Gate Charity which is helping to meet the basic needs of those in want during these difficult economic times. Donations are taken to the charity’s hub in Alloa.
There is a collection point for donations at the back of the church, which is accessible when the church is open between 9.30am and 5.00pm.
If, instead of donating food, you would prefer to make a regular financial contribution to The Gate by Bank Standing Order, the necessary forms are available at the back of the church.
